Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Vancouver
Today is at your leisure to explore the scenic city of Vancouver. Be certain to visit the Vancouver Observation Deck at Harbour Centre with your admissions pass and enjoy stunning views of the city, mountains and ocean. Overnight Fairmont Waterfront or Holiday Inn Downtown.

Day 2 - Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel aboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, located in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. Your journey begins at 7:30 and takes you through dramatic scenery that includes the lush fields of the Fraser River valley to the forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade mountains. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer arrives in Kamloops at 17:30. The evening is at your leisure Overnight Kamloops. (B, L)

Day 3 - Kamloops to Jasper
Your journey into the Canadian Rockies continues this morning. Board the Rocky Mountaineer for your 8:10 departure and travel northeast into the province of Alberta. Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3,953 metres, Pyramid Falls, and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. Your rail journey ends on arrival in the resort town of Jasper this evening. Overnight Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge or Marmot Lodge. (B, L)

Day 4 - Jasper Sightseeing
Jasper National Park is a World Heritage Site and the Canadian Rockies’ largest national park. Today you will enjoy a scenic tour including the areas many natural attractions. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore Jasper on your own. Overnight Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge or Marmot Lodge.

Day 5 - Jasper to Lake Louise
Today’s travels take you to Lake Louise via one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. Stop at the scenic Athabasca Falls before arriving at the Columbia Icefield, where you’ll ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier to learn more about its geological features. Your driver/guide will explain how glaciers are formed and point out some interesting geological features. There will be time for lunch on your own. Your excursion, continues this afternoon with a brief stop at Bow Lake before arriving in Lake Louise. Upon arrival you will be treated to a one-hour guided lakeshore stroll. Overnight Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Day 6 - Lake Louise to Banff
The morning is yours to enjoy Lake Louise. This afternoon embark on a half-day tour to Yoho National Park. Highlights of this excursion include the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a rock bridge that spans the Kicking Horse River. At the end of the tour you will be transferred to Banff. Overnight Fairmont Banff Springs or Banff Caribou Lodge.

Day 7 – Banff to Calgary with Summit Helicopter Tour
Today’s full-day excursion begins with a morning tour of Banff that includes visits to Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. Continue on to Kananaskis for the highlight of today’s adventure, a 15-minute Summit Helicopter Tour over the remarkable Rockies. Enjoy lunch at a local ranch and spend time exploring Kananaskis at your leisure before your afternoon transfer to Calgary. Overnight Fairmont Palliser or International Hotel and Suites. (L)

Day 8 – Calgary Departure
Your Western Explorer holiday ends this morning. You may wish to extend your time in Canada with a stay in Calgary to further explore this beautiful destination or other neighboring cities.
