Cruise the Rhine to Switzerland - Its renown is no surprise since our border-hopping route wends its way through the romantic Rhine Gorge of Germany, the scenic Alsace region of France and into the northern mountain slopes of Switzerland.

Cruise the Rhine to Switzerland
From the cruise ship you can see countless magical castles perched on the hillsides, romantic Rhineland towns and villages with their half-timbered buildings as well as pretty river tributaries rushing to meet the mighty Rhine. After the steep vine-covered slopes of the dramatic Rhine Gorge, the Rhine's waters broaden, the climate warms and the land flattens out slightly to reveal the lush Rhine Plains. Along the river's western shores lay the gentler rolling hills of France's Alsace region; whilst across on the opposite eastern banks, the wooded hills of Germany's Black Forest beckon us with its enchanting scenery, proud traditions, cuckoo clocks and black forest gateaux. View the mightiest waterfalls in central Europe and drive through the Jura Mountains to visit the picture postcard resort of Lucerne. Wunderbar!

Travel to Andernach and board the ship for an evening of relaxation or exploring the streets and riverside promenades of this attractive Rhineland town.
Day 2 Andernach - Rüdesheim
Cruising up river, through the dramatic narrow Rhine Gorge, you reach the pretty town of Rüdesheim. To really appreciate this beautiful region you can join the optional Rüdesheim Highlights excursion, which features a panoramic ride to the heights of the gorge by cable car, whilst the Rüdesheim by Night optional excursion takes you to a traditional wine cellar to sample some of the region's best wines, before exploring the captivating street called the Drosselgasse.
Day 3 Rüdesheim - Speyer - Germersheim
Sailing out of the narrow Rhine Gorge into the Rhine's broader waters, you head up river for a late afternoon stop in the Celtic Roman city of Speyer. An optional guided walking tour of the city is available to enable you to get the most from our short visit, before we continue to Germersheim.
Day 4 Germersheim - Strasbourg
An early cast off takes you through the lush Rhine Plains and over the border into the Alsace region of France. We berth at Strasbourg where you can join our optional excursion to discover more about this UNESCO listed World Heritage site. A further optional excursion is available this evening in the form of a canal cruise along Strasbourg's waterways, aboard a glass topped canal cruiser.
Day 5 Strasbourg - Breisach
You cruise through the Rhine Plain, arriving at the small town of Breisach around lunchtime. Here you can join the Alluring Alsace excursion to Riquewihr, one of the most romantic and beautiful villages in France, which includes wine tasting at the renowned Dopff & Irion vineyard.
Day 6 Breisach - Basel
This morning, as the ship sails to Switzerland, you can venture into the cooler mountain slopes of the Black Forest and the Rhine Falls on the full day optional excursion to Titisee. You re-join our ship in Basel, across the border in Northern Switzerland, for a relaxing evening.
Day 7 Basel - Breisach - Kehl
After breakfast the coach takes us on a route that tunnels through the Jura Mountains to the Swiss resort of Lucerne. In the meantime, the ship retraces her route back to Breisach to await our return. Cast off in the early evening and sail back through the Rhine Plains, via a number of fascinating locks, to the former fishing village of Kehl.
Day 8 Kehl - Mannheim - Mainz
From Kehl, you cruise to the river port of Mannheim where you can join the optional excursion to the majestic city of Heidelberg, home of Germany's oldest University. We return to our ship in Mainz for free time to explore this ancient Roman city.
Day 9 Mainz - Cologne
Be sure to settle up on the Sun Deck for the final day of cruising and take in the magnificent scenery of the Rhine Gorge as you pass the fabled Lorelei Rock, the confluence with the Moselle River at Koblenz, the foot of the Seven Mountains and the former capital of West Germany, Bonn. On arrival in Cologne you can join the Rhineland Palaces excursion, which takes you to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Augustusburg Castle and Falkenlust Castle at Brühl.
