Majestic Four Rivers Cruise

Open your heart and mind to the diverse influences of the mighty River Rhine, whose strength is drawn from the European rivers that feed it. On its journey from the mountains of Switzerland to the flatter landscape of the Netherlands, the Rhine links diverse landscapes and cultures. Our meander along three of the tributaries that feed Germany's Romantic Middle Rhine section provides vistas ranging from the spirited Moselle and fabled Rhine Gorges, to the 21st century cosmopolitan cities occupying its broader plains. Whether we're gazing at the Moselle's steep vine clad slopes, Heidelberg's romantic castle on the Neckar or the Main's high-rise "Mainhattan" skyline of Frankfurt, our Four Rivers Cruise admirably pays tribute to the mighty Rhine and her tributaries.

Day 2 – Andernach - Cochem
We sail along the Rhine, as it flows through steep hills bedecked with vineyards, and join the Moselle. Cruising round an idyllic bend in the river, we reach the Celtic-Roman town of Cochem, which lies in the shadow of the fabulous Reichsburg Castle. From here you can join our optional Magical Moselle Towns and Castles excursion, before exploring Cochem's maze of little streets and maybe sampling the local wines and apple strudel.

Day 3 – Cochem - Boppard
An early start takes us back down the Moselle to rejoin the Rhine and make our way to Boppard. Our optional Boppard Highlights excursion takes you on a tour of Boppard aboard the Rhine Express mini road train, which is followed by a chairlift ride to Vierseenblick (Four Lakes View) to gain memorable birds eye views of the Rhine. The remainder of the day is free to relax in this charming waterside town, which was once a "Free Imperial City".

Day 4 – Boppard - Rüdesheim
Cruising on up the Rhine, through the dramatic and fabled narrow Rhine Gorge, we reach the attractive town of Rüdesheim. Day 5 – Rüdesheim - Frankfurt
Today we sail out of the narrow Rhine Gorge into the Rhine's broader waters, before turning off to cruise up the River Main as far as Frankfurt, Germany's foremost financial centre with its unique "Mainhattan" skyline. Our optional guided tour introduces you to this elegant city and is rounded off with a glass of local apple wine, apfelwein, in one of the traditional taverns in the Alt Sachsenhausen district with its cobbled lanes and timbered framed buildings.

Day 6 – Frankfurt - Mainz
Retracing our route down the Main, we stop at the town of Mainz on the confluence with the Rhine. After lunch we offer an optional guided tour of vibrant Mainz, which has a rich history spanning over two thousand years. This evening you can relax in the town's friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
