Itinerary
Day 1 – UK - Andernach
We travel to Andernach and board the mps Lady
Anne for an evening of relaxation or exploring the
streets and riverside promenades of this attractive
Rhineland town.
Day 2 – Andernach - Cochem
Cruising up the Rhine as far as Koblenz, we join the
tranquil Moselle River. Our route through the steep
sided vineyards takes us round an idyllic bend in
the river to the town of Cochem, which lies in the
shadow of its fabulous Castle. From here our
Magical Moselle Towns and Castles optional
excursion departs, before returning to Cochem's
maze of little streets and maybe enjoying some
apple strudel.
Day 3 – Cochem - Bernkastel
Meandering through the twists and turns of the
Moselle, through the steep slopes of the Eifel and
Hunsrück uplands, we reach Bernkastel. No less
than 5000 wine growers store their products in the
cellars here, so it is no wonder that Bernkastel is
considered the "wine capital" of the river. You can
learn about the area on our optional guided
walking tour or explore at your own leisure. Be sure
to set aside a few Euros for a local bottle or two!
Day 4 – Bernkastel - Trier
Casting off this morning and passing more
vineyards and idyllic wine villages, such as Piesport
and Neumagen, we arrive at Trier - Germany's
oldest city. With so much to see in this former
residence of Roman Emperors you can benefit from
our optional tour of the city.
Day 5 – Trier - Traben Trarbach
Today you can join our full day optional excursion
to Luxembourg, known as the "Gibraltar of the
North". Our coach tour will point out key areas
followed by some free time for your own
exploration. Meanwhile the mps Lady Anne
relocates to the spa and wine centre of Traben
Trarbach where we return in time for dinner.
Day 6 – Traben Trarbach - Koblenz
Our Rhine in Flames Festival Day gets off to a quiet
start as we retrace our route back along the
winding Moselle to berth in Koblenz, the 2000 year
old town which is located at the confluence of the
Rhine and Moselle rivers. Tonight we witness a
thrilling Rhine in Flames firework spectacle.
Day 7 – Koblenz - Bonn
Moving on from Koblenz, the beautiful upland
range of the Eifel is revealed as we head for Bonn,
the former capital of West Germany. Spend the
remainder of the day on our optional excursion to
the Ahr Valley for some wine tasting or explore
Bonn, dipping into its "Museum Mile" and seeking
out Bonngasse 20, the birthplace of Ludwig van
Beethoven.
Day 8 – Bonn - UK
This morning we bid farewell to our Captain and
crew and disembark for the return journey to the UK.
