The Land of Fire and Ice. Iceland has some of the most astonishing landscapes in the world.Born from an undersea volcano millions of years ago, the island is still geologically active and you can take tours inside volcanos, the extinct ones that is. The volcanic activity provides all of the geo-thermal heat needed to power Reykjavik, its capital city. The city has a wide range of stores to buy local artefacts and features some delicious, predominantly fish, restaurants. You can take tours across the forbidding and captivating lava fields or perhaps take a tour to Reykjanes Peninsula and bathe in the warm waters of the Blue Lagoon. One thing you cannot do is travel on a train! Iceland has no railways.
