Enjoy a wonderful break in Inverness. Originally a fortress fought over by warring highland clans, and now the capital of the Highland Region, Inverness lies quietly on the banks of the beautiful River Ness.

Onboard dining on outward and return train journeys aboard the Northern Belle. Two nights, hotel accommodation on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis (dinner on the first night is served on the train en route to Inverness). Guided tour to Loch Ness and the Culloden Battlefields, taking in the Culloden Visitors Centre.
Itinerary
Board the Northern Belle and settle into your luxurious carriage. Journey through Britain's beautiful countryside and enjoy a fantastic dining experience with wine and champagne as you take in the scenery and relax travelling north. Arrive at Inverness station for your road transfer to your hotel to settle in for the night.
The next morning, enjoy breakfast at your hotel before boarding the awaiting road coach for your excursion, and a brief stop at Inverness Castle, for a photo opportunity, where it is perched on a cliff overlooking the river Ness. Then on to St Andrew's Cathedral, followed by Culloden Battlefield. This is where the last hand to hand battle took place on British soil, fought between Bonnie Prince Charlie's Jacobites and the Government, forever changing the course of history. Later enjoy time at your leisure to explore the city to appreciate the rugged grandeur of the Highlands. Reboard your awaiting road coach for the transfer back to the hotel, enjoy dinner in the restaurant and retire to your rooms.
In the morning, transfer back to the station where the Northern Belle awaits, board and enjoy a delicious menu with wine and champagne before your trip concludes, the countryside gives way to the city as you then arrive back at London.

The Kings Mill
A mile from the city centre and the River Ness which flows elegantly through the centre the, the Kings Mill has tastefully and yet practically extended over the years to open as a luxury Inverness hotel in 1947. The name Kings Mill commemorates a meal mill which stood in the grounds of the hotel until the 1950's. Licensing of the mill was granted by the crown alone until 1575 hence the "Kings" mills. AA Rated 4 star hotel.
Culloden House Hotel
Today, this handsome Palladian country house stands in nearly 40 acres where guests are free to wander about the elegant lawns and parkland to enjoy the exceptional peace, tranquility and majesty of the grounds. The interior features a wonderfully comfortable drawing-room with magnificent Adamesque plasterwork, many fine antiques and a large open fire.
